Relationships have been referred to as the final frontier in spiritual work because there can be so much emotion around them to cloud our vision. They also are the most fulfilling of experiences here on earth and encompass a majority of our lives.

Relationships can be romantic, friendships, family, co-workers, boss, employee, etc. and they have more in common than we think. It’s important to develop good relationship skills like setting boundaries, teaching people how to treat you, as well as The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz…

  • Be Impeccable With Your Word

  • Don’t Take Anything Personally

  • Don’t Make Assumptions

  • Always Do Your Best

Work on these skills and all your relationships will certainly enhance! Now I am going to dive right into the romantic relationships. Romantic relationships require more focus than others since they are the most involved. As with anything they should be simplified if you want to get closer to the Truth. We need to understand that we are complete on our own, we don’t need anyone to complete us. So there are three separate parts:

1. Us

2. Our partner

3. A separate entity called the relationship which is made up of each of our combined energies

This relationship grows and becomes stronger only by the separate people involved in it expanding and becoming better versions of themselves. We cannot sacrifice ourselves to enhance someone else. That doesn’t mean we can’t take turns and support one another. In fact that’s a must, we must support one another in our spiritual and personal growth. As we become better versions of ourselves, the quality of the energy between us improves giving us more joy, love and happiness to share in healthier ways with each other.

So if we work to become the best versions of ourselves and support each other in that endeavor, the mutual energy between us will grow and enhance. If we don’t do this, the relationship will suffer, it must suffer since the energy we’re bringing into the relationship is not improving. So if what we bring to the relationship improves, the relationship improves.

Focusing on what we’re each bringing into the relationship and thereby enhancing it is key! So go out and improve what you’ve got, there’s still time!
